Subsurface Sewage Treatment System (SSTS) Program The State of Minnesota has enacted laws and rules to protect groundwater and surface water from contamination by septic systems. Local staff are available to administer the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s SSTS program by answering questions about requirements, issuing permits, coordinating inspections of new and existing systems, and providing administration of grant funding for replacement of failing septic systems in Traverse County. Wetland Conservation Act (WCA)
Comprehensive Local Water Plan This plan was developed in 2005 and updated in 2010. The plan provides a framework of local conservation priorities, goals, and objectives that guide the Water Plan Committee’s decisions on designation of local funds for projects. Feedlot The locally administered feedlot program provides assistance to local feedlot owners while meeting programming goals and objectives as designated by the MN Pollution Control Agency. Staff perform annual inspections of animal feedlots, assist with delivery of information, and provide assistance with permit applications. Click here to be directed to the MPCA website
