The mission of the Traverse Soil & Water Conservation District is to provide equal opportunity assistance to landowners, producers and residents of Traverse County for the education and promotion of conservation practices and proper land use to protect and enhance Traverse County's natural resources.
Please call 320-563-8218 or email to RSVP for the free noon meal! We are excited to have Dorian Gatchell, an agronomist/farmer from the Granite Falls area and TJ Kartes who is a cover crop specialist/farmer for Saddle Butte Ag. Dorian and T.J. have spoken at many conferences, trainings, field days, and workshops around a multi-state area and many can attest to their experience and engaging speaking abilities. Dorian will provide an in-depth discussion about herbicide selection, premixes, weed resistance issues and how these topics relate to each other. He will also address problem weeds from angles we may not have thought of before, both chemically and biologically. The weeds we may think are resistant might not be so resistant - if treated a certain way. TJ is an expert about what cover crops to plant for a certain resource concern you may have in your fields. He will address the why, how, where, and when to plant and manage different cover crop species. He will discuss why covers are good for the soil, how to resolve issues you have had with trying to get cover crops established, and the latest and greatest ideas for covers. Please RSVP by phone or email for the free noon meal.
